About the artwork: This is the first piece in my series dedicated to the endangered birds of Hawaii.

The kiwikiu, or Maui parrotbill, is a critically endangered honeycreeper native to Maui with an estimated population in 2016 of 250-540 individuals, but more recent estimates of less than 150 individuals.
